David is a founding board member of NKB and coached youth baseball for 12 years.  He and the other founding members wanted to create a league that was in the best interests of the players, parents and coaches.
 
David grew up in Pendleton County Kentucky graduating from PC High School in 1981.  He has a Bachelor’s degree in music education from University of Kentucky (1985) and a Master’s degree in Education from Xavier University (2011).  David is active in the U.K. Alumni band that performs during Christmas break at the basketball games and one football game each year.
 
After graduating from U.K. David moved to Covington, KY and was the band director at Holmes High School.  From 1985 to 1988 Holmes placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd at every marching band competition.  The bands won honors in concert band performances and in 1987 the Holmes Junior High band competed at the state senior high concert band competition; they were the only Junior High band ever to compete and make it to state as a high school band in Kentucky.
 
In 1988 David left teaching and started in the family businesses.  Over the years he has operated several businesses including convenience stores, restaurants (fast food and sit down), heating oil and farm gas sales, video rentals, commercial lubricant sales, graphics, real estate sales, property rentals, consulting and skilled nursing care.  Today David has over 100 employees.
 
David and his wife Tina have 3 boys (yep that is why he got involved coaching!).  Morgan (1995) is a senior at the University of Kentucky majoring in Business Finance and minoring in Music on Trumpet.  Spencer (1997) is a junior at Rice University in Houston and is majoring in Music Performance on French Horn.  Robert (2001) is a sophomore at Campbell County High school where he is goalie on the JV soccer team and backup goalie on the Varsity team, he plays French Horn in the band.

JOB DESCRIPTION – PRESIDENT
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as the chief administrative officer of the league and is responsible for conducting the NKB in conformity to the policies, principles, rules and regulations of the league and Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken Baseball as agreed to under the conditions of its charter.
  • Exercises general authority and supervision over all functions of the league; however, specific authority is delegated to specific Board members, other volunteers and hired agents.

  • Oversees the general conduct of all officers, managers and coaches and ensures that they are performing their duties accordingly. Informs the Board if someone is not performing their duties as required or their conduct is inappropriate.

  • Meets periodically with each new Board member to review his/her responsibilities.

  • Sets the Board meeting agenda, dates and times and presides over all meetings.

  • Represents the league in all meetings of the local, state or national organization.

  • Completes and returns the application required to renew the league charter each year.

  • Authorizes and approves all expenditures by reviewing invoices and co-signing all checks over specified amount.

  • Provide overall guidance for the league and the Board of Directors.

    • Guidance for the league should include:

      • ​​Bring new ideas and improvements to the board.

      • Look for opportunities to grow the league.

      • Answer general emails concering the league in a timely manner.

    • ​​Guidance for the Board should include:
      • Being open to improvements and help cultivate new ideas.
      • Encourage and help Board members..
      • Help recruit new Board members to open positions.
